NOURISHED LAND
NOURISHED BODY

Rooted in the landscape of southern Minnesota, Tethera raises grass-fed and grass-finished lamb and goat. Our animals spend their lives outdoors, rotationally grazing forests, pastures, orchards and prairies. These grazing practices lead to greater biodiversity, healthier soils, and cleaner waters.

We believe that by working in collaboration with the land we are able to provide nourishing and delicious proteins, grounded in respect for the earth, the animals, and our own bodies.

 WHO WE ARE

We are Arlo Hark & Josie Trople, owners and operators.

In 2018, we moved back to Minnesota with a vision of animal husbandry as a tool for positive ecological impact. Over the last five years, we have come to understand ourselves as the facilitators of a natural series of exchanges, in which our animals both improve the land and benefit from it.

Our adaptive grazing practices provide our animals a free choice ‘buffet’ of various forage - allowing them to select the nutrients they need throughout their lives. The result is high-quality protein, the way nature intended.

The name “Tethera” is derived from an ancient system of counting sheep, and we use it to distinguish the third branch of our work: nourishment. Tethera is nestled into our other efforts - vegetation management and renewable fiber.
